Coaching Styles

the autocratic coaching style, is a strict form of coaching where the coach is in total control of the athletes training sessions and is in control of al decisions which are to be made. eg: a young athlete who wishes to try out for the olympic games in 2008 and is slacking of in his/her training sessions and needs to be greatly motivated in order to qualify. another coaching style is democratic where the players have and imput on decisions which are to be made, the environment in which the coaching is is more relaxed then autocratic which prevents stress from occuring. eg. where the team splits into different training teams and the coach allows them to make decisions  in a relaxed environment where it is not as strict.another form of coaching is laisse faire where the environment is extremely relaxed and the coach has little input on what the team is doing and allows the team to create all decisions based around what they want. eg. an under 16 girls netball team who are just playing for fun and are not to fussed on what they are coming on the ladder and are there mainly for recreation, fun and socialisation.

i think that it is vital to manage all these different coaching styles at appropriate times. All these styles are different and they need to be used correctly. Autocratic shows a strict coach who makes all the decisions and is in total control, this situation would best be used in a situation like when organizing and managing just before the activity takes place. Democratic shows someone who is very relaxed and when it comes to making decisions will include player input and feedback a good situation to use this is when you begin to introduce new rules or are selecting the teams. Laisse Faire is similar to democratic but the coach is more relaxed and seems not to care all that often this type of style would be best for when the end of the training session has concluded and you just feel like having a bit of fun afterwards.

My Sports Coaching Philosophy

My sports coaching philosophy is that whilst playing a sport in your area of interest is not all about wining or losing, its about giving it 100% and being fully committed to your sporting interests. this will increase your self esteem and overall well being, by being able to say that you have given it your all.sportsmanship is also another major factor in sport, by being able to handle your win and losses and being and encouraging team player and motivating your tea to do their best.
