school sport week 2
Posted on August 26th, 2008 at 6:53 pm by DLC and

this week i was faced with the challenge of dealing with misbehaviour of students non participation, and i felt i handled this quiet well.

bernadette from sedgwick of year 9, was unhappy with the way i was refereeing, the rules and the scores.

she took the issue up with ms Dobbie and i gathered the girls and sat them down in  group and we sorted out the scores. the girls were happy wit the way the scores were settled.

i put the girls back on the field and the nastiness continued on the fields, with a few of the girls making comments about some of the other girls and myself.

i stopped the game and i explained to the girls that if they were not happy with the way i was coachingor the way the rules were they they could sit down and that i was not going to tollerate nastiness on the field.

bernadette kept carrying on and kept back chatting to me, so i asked her politley to sit off the field for 5 minutes to ‘cool off’. she toook offence to that and stormed off the field.

i restarted the game and the girls were fine, at the end of the game i explained to the girls that it is ok to be competitive, but bad sportsman ship is not tollerated at any level of sport.

i told the girls that they should treat each other with respect and that mistakes are going to be made.

i thought  handled the situation quiet well and ms dobbie was hapy with the decisions i made and the way i handled the group.

she said she was gooing to take the issue further with bernadettes year coordinator .

but overall i got a good coaching report, and im happy with how things worked out, as  stayed calm in the situation.

school sport; week 1
Posted on August 20th, 2008 at 8:12 pm by DLC and

for my first week of school sport i think i did quite well, with mrs dobbie giving me a good feedback sheet.

i need to work on getting players efficiently and quickly into teams.

i gave the kids good feedback throughout the game and gave them tips on winning.

i think i did fairly well gathering the equipment, and i allocated students jobs (i.e collecting cones)

i spoke in a nice calm manner, and told instructions clearly  and quickly and kept the rules simple.

we did a warm up and also stretched.

the boys participated well.
